The Old Spanish Trail 2017…55- min video of the first re-ride of the Old Spanish Trail
since 1848 – Richard Waller

Richard is an historian and retired teacher. He has spent his life exploring our public lands, the
history of the west, and his love of horses and mules. His book, Old Spanish Trail Guide…is an
account of the first reride of the Old Spanish Trail since 1848 He wrote the book to promote
interest in and knowledge of the Old Spanish National Historic Trail, the Old Spanish Trail
Association, a group of dedicated men and women who work to preserve and promote the trail.
The book is also written to promote the Backcountry Horsemen of America and their mission to
preserve and protect our public lands. All profits from the book will go to the backcountry
Horsemen of American to help support their work.

The Old Spanish Trail is a 55-minute film, tracking the journey of Richard Waller, Otis Calef
and Jim Clark riding this historic 1200 miles from Los Angeles to Santa Fe.
They rode the trail in two legs, fall of 2014 and summer of 2015
